Meanwhile, sources said that two candidates including the former Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo and former Deputy Mayor Sheikh Muhammad Imran will be contesting the elections for the Mayor post. Talking to KNO, Sheikh Imran said that a group of Corporators headed by Waheed Ahmad Dar has not taken any decision regarding the candidate. “I have no mandate to speak anything in this regard. The decision to choose a candidate will be taken by the group,” he said. Waheed Ahmad Dar, however, said that the candidate by a group of 42 corporators will be announced on Thursday morning. “The candidate has not been chosen yet,” he said. However, the sources within the group said that they have already chosen Sheikh Imran as their candidate while the formal announcement will be made tomorrow.
